Weight Loss Challenge

FINAL UPDATE (RESULTS); Sep 1, 2013: We had our final weigh-in this morning.  We both have made a ton of progress and are very happy with the results.  I (Owen) won the contest and have purchased my plane tickets, hotel reservations, and marathon entry into the Tucson Marathon on Dec. 8.

Malissa and I have come up with what we hope will help us both finally reach our ideal body weight.  We are doing a "Biggest Loser" style weight loss challenge. We will weigh in every Sunday morning starting on March 10th, 2013 with a final weigh-in on September 1st, 2013.

The rules are simple.
  • UPDATE: Biggest Loser uses a percentage calculated by dividing weight loss by total body weight.  We've changed it to go by weight loss divided by total pounds to lose. That way it is still a competition, but we can both win by reaching goal weight.
  • Each week the person with the highest percentage wins that weigh-in and five points.
  • On September 1st, 50 points are awarded to the person who's lost the overall highest percentage of their goal (up to 100%).
  • On September 1st, whoever has the most points wins the competition and the prize below.
  • If both of us are at or below our goal weight on September 1st, we both win our prize (however there is still only one winner of bragging rights, based on points.)
We each chose a reward that we get if we win:
Malissa: Nutritionist classes
Owen: Plane ticket/hotel/marathon entry for a marathon yet to be determined (most likely the Tucson Marathon on 12/8)
