Because I am writing this a year and a half after the race, I am going to let the pictures tell the story.  I will say that the countless hours spent training with Michael for this race was an experience I wouldn't trade for anything.

I am so thankful Michael was willing to slow down to my pace so we could run every footstep together.  If he ever decides to run another marathon, I'll let him race and see what he can do, but for his first to be with me was really, really special.

I am so far behind in writing my race recap blogs.  This race was in April of 2017, and I am writing the recap in March of 2019 (almost two years later!)  So the a lot of the details of this trip have faded.  I will mostly let the pictures tell the story.

Chris was originally scheduled to run the full, but transferred to the half-marathon due to some nagging injuries.

We took a megabus from Charlotte to Atlanta.

Once in Atlanta, we flew to Vegas.

We stayed at an airbnb house in Vegas.  It was just one small bedroom, with two twin beds, but it was really nice and very convenient.

Expo pics:

"Recovery" demo, but before the race.

After the expo, we drove the marathon course.  The start line was near the top of Charleston Peak, outside of Vegas.

We didn't have a lot of time to do "tourist" things, but we did go to Fremont St. Experience, where we walked around the casinos, I played enough blackjack to pay for our parking, then we zip lined down Fremont St.

The day of the marathon, we drove to the finish, then caught separate buses to the start, since the half and full started at different points.

It was a beautiful, downhill course.  The race went well.  There were a couple of uphill sections near the end of the course that really slowed me down, but overall I was very happy with my time.

At the airport on the way out of Vegas, I had some delicious pizza.
